Welcome to our new kitchen!
This home, and especially our new kitchen were a labor of love and a dream come true. I was able to design every aspect of this space and select every single finish and surface. Not the easiest task, but incredibly fulfilling now that it is done!
I’d like to extend a huge THANK YOU to Classic Custom Metal Works, Vadara Quartz Surfaces, and The Stone Store, my partners for this space. I’ll be including them in this post, but it is important to know that all opinions are my own. Disclosure here.
Now let’s talk about the details!
Windows:
Long before we knew we were moving out of our last home, I began dreaming of a new kitchen with a wall of windows rather than upper cabinets, so that is what I designed.
I love this feature wall which includes four windows and four transoms. The transoms add architectural interest and help maximize light within our kitchen. I’m so pleased with the look!
I especially love this window wall in the late afternoon. The panes cast beautiful patterns on the cabinets, countertops, and floors. This sun-drenched room is my happy place within the home.
Double Islands:
The second island was an add-on and not in my original plan. It created tons of storage though and balanced the space perfectly.
Cabinets:
We wanted inset cabinets, which were custom-built here in our home. I drew each section on graph paper (old-school, I know) and our cabinet maker brought them to life!
This wall of drawers turned out so beautifully. Can’t wait to show you how I’ve organized this space!
These floor-to-ceiling cabinets on our side wall include our refrigerator and freezer. We also have an appliance garage just left of the glass doors.
Backsplash:
I almost used the same tile we had in our previous home for the backsplash in our new kitchen. It was incredibly beautiful, but I definitely love this marble tile (similar) if not more.
I’ve received some questions about how we achieved this light look. The secret is to order extra and discard the pieces that are too dark. I believe we bought about 30% extra.
Hardware:
Unlacquered brass is the finish I selected for my cabinet hardware. The hardware adds so much warmth and interest to our cabinets. The knobs and pulls are simply stunning! The appliance pulls make an incredible statement.
Range:
This range is so special. My original plan was to order it in stainless with brass trim (no white), but it was going to take too long to arrive. This style that I ended up with is beautiful though. I love the classic and elegant white finish with brass and stainless steel trim.
Range Hood:
Can we take a moment to admire this hood?!
It is fabulous!!!
It’s by the fantastic team at Classic Custom Metal Works and Design. In case you missed it, I previously shared some details about the design process. Now that we have our hood installed though, I can say that the full process was simply amazing. And, I am completely in love!
Cindy Mullen is the owner of Classic Custom Metal Works and Design. THANK GOODNESS FOR HER! She was a bright shining light during our construction project. Truly, building this house was soooo stressful at times, but working with Cindy was nothing short of perfection. She and her team took my input and created something even more gorgeous than I ever could have imagined.
Classic Custom Metal Works and Design delivers throughout the country. They offered guidance and advice on the installation process as well. Our installation went extremely well by the way. Now, everyone who has entered our home has complimented our custom range hood. Everyone.
The design possibilities offered by CCMWD are limitless, so your hood will be uniquely yours and a work of art for your home. I am thrilled with my design and I know you will be too if you choose to work with them.
Countertops:
Wow. Wow. Wow.
This is another aspect of the construction process that went extremely well. In fact, our countertops were delivered ahead of schedule (so helpful) and they were stored by the wonderful Stone Store without pause.
Once they were installed, I just felt so grateful that the end result exceeded my expectations. I shared all of the details here.
Vadara quartz is so pretty. Each design strongly resembles natural stone in muted tones that would elevate any space.
The Stone Store did a great job fabricating our countertops. I can happily offer a glowing recommendation for them. They have provided an email address to contact them, [email protected].
Amaranta – Kitchen Side Wall and Window Wall
Sunrise Vista – Kitchen Islands
You can see how gorgeous the countertops are each afternoon as the sun streams through the windows and bounces off of them.
Sink:
Just like in our previous home, I wanted an apron front sink. It is so functional and the size is amazing.
Faucet and Pot Filler:
I chose this pretty bridge faucet and pot filler. We also added a beverage faucet.
Refrigerator and Freezer:
We wanted our refrigerator and freezer to blend into the kitchen rather than stand out, so we selected cabinet-ready appliances. I’m so happy with them!
Dishwasher:
The dishwasher is also hidden behind this panel. The hardware gives it a sophisticated look.
Trash pullout:
To balance our island, we had our cabinet maker build a trash pullout opposite of the dishwasher.
End Cabinet:
I wanted this end cabinet to look like a piece of furniture. Someday, I may add wallpaper to the backs of the cabinets. Until then, I am enjoying the clean and fresh backdrop.
Lighting:
I found these pendants and knew they were the perfect size. Traditional, yet modern, the design coordinates flawlessly with our range hood. I also added a cute little lamp in the corner. It is perfect to leave on at night.
