Welcome to our new home! Our dining room became the first fully furnished room in our home and I am so excited to share it with you today!
When we were designing our new home, we briefly considered skipping a formal dining room, but I am so glad we didn’t. I knew we would miss it during the holidays. Often, our family gathers at our home and I cherish those meals around this table so much. I look forward to making new memories here!
Please join me for a tour!
This room is the first room you see when you enter our new home, so I wanted it to have some wow factors. I tried to create an elevated space with lighting, color, and more. Details below!
Furnishings
Most of the furniture in our dining room is from our previous home. The table fit perfectly here with one leaf added. This room is longer than the one in our last home, so we needed the extra length. We purchased two extra dining side chairs as well. The end chairs are the same, but I may reupholster them at some point.
The credenza is still one of my favorite pieces. It is so beautiful and offers lots of storage.
Accessories
One of the things I love most about having a credenza in my dining room, the extra surface is perfect for decorative accessories.
I adore these temple jars filled with faux stems. They stand out against the wall color and they mix and match beautifully with other jars and faux flowers when I’m ready for a seasonal change.
This mother-of-pearl round mirror is the perfect backdrop for the items on the credenza. It has a gorgeous iridescent finish and provides a way for light to bounce off of the wall opposite the windows.
An oversized bowl filled with fresh flowers made a statement on the table.
Lighting
The chandelier, sconces, and lamps are all from my favorite lighting source. I’m obsessed!
Windows
One of the things I am most thrilled about in our new home is the windows. I wanted as many sun-filled spaces as possible and these windows achieved just that.
Coffered Ceiling
Some architectural details came to this space by way of a coffered ceiling. I love the way it turned out!
Color
We saturated this room in Benjamin Moore Boothbay Gray at 50% strength. It is a beautiful blue-gray that we used in our new kitchen on the islands as well.
We also added to the gorgeous color scheme of the room with this incredible custom art piece. It was originally created for our previous primary bedroom by Katherine Freeman Hocke. It’s even more stunning in person!
That is all for now but, check back soon because I’ve styled this space for fall and will be sharing it in a few days!
Wonderful memories can be formed in spaces like this. I hope this space inspires you to add personal touches to your dining space! Sources below.
